Ancient Chinese Clothing for man,Tang zhuang,Man's Traditional chinese clothing

Man’s Chinese Clothing

One of the easiest recognizable characteristics of a culture is its clothing. Here in the home of silk and qi pao dresses a saying goes that “clothing carries the soul of a culture.”Among the long list of cultural traditions in China including its distinctive cuisine, art, language, and architecture, Chinese clothing holds its own proud position as this “soul bearer.”Though the more well known traditional forms of sino attire took a back seat during the tumultuous last century, they are receiving more attention recently as tang zhuang, or Chinese dress thrives on the recent reemergence of all things Chinese.
The term tang zhuang is easily confused with clothing from the Tang dynasty, when it is actually meant to be Chinese clothing in general, tang being another word referring to Chinese people.             Searching for historic stores in Yangzhou where this garb is still made to suit naturally leads one down the old alleys, where we happened across the century old store run by a 90 year old man named Lu.
